3 things to remember when choosing a Wedding Venue

3 things to remember when choosing a Wedding Venue:

1. Location, Location, Location !!! Where is your ceremony being held? How long will it take to get from there to the venue? Remember, people tend to hang around after the church to get photos of you and to congratulate you, the ceremony takes an hour too, if your church is at 1pm most of your guests won't have eating and will be famished! If the venue is over an hour away you won't be able to have much of a drinks reception as your guests will need feeding......

2. Food. If you are paying the average price for a meal (€40 - €65) you need to choose your menu carefully.  Be vigilant when it comes to choice, a lot of hotels charge extra for a choice of main course, you can negotiate this! There is also a silent vegetarian option in most hotels so you don't have to cater for vegetarians on the menu. Just remember you are NEVER going to please everybody so choose the menu YOU like, it is your day after all!

3. Price / Deposit. Always make a budget, have an idea when meeting a wedding planner in a hotel how much you have to spend. If you have €5,000 and 80 guests you have €62.50 a head to play around with. Negotiate! If you are guaranteed to book 25 bedrooms tell them that, this may work in your favour! Also, I understand that panic may set in when handing over a deposit, especially with a lot of hotels going into receivership, the only way to put your mind at ease is to pay with a credit card, this is traceable through the banks and should anything happen to the hotel you can get your deposit back :)
